HUNDREDS of visitors are expected to head to Rainhill at the weekend for the annual model railway exhibition.

A free vintage bus service will run at various times each day to and from Rainhill Village Hall, courtesy of The North West Museum of Road Transport in Hall Street, St Helens, where you can also see an extensive collection of vintage and classic road vehicles.

Rainhill Model Railway Club’s event will be held between 10am and 5pm on Saturday and 10am and 4.30pm on Sunday in the Weaver Avenue hall, which is close to Rainhill railway station.

The exhibition will feature 14 railway layouts in seven different scales, six trade stands and a club shop offering model railway items, accessories, tools, books, DVDs and memorabilia. Refreshments will be available.

“We will also have four show-you-how demonstrators and there is full disabled access to all areas on both floors,” said club committee member Peter Hughes.

Admission is £4 adults, £3.50 children and concessionary or £11 for a family of two adults and two children.
