£5m Technology Campus revamp to get underway
Updated 10:08pm Sunday 23rd February 2014 in News
WORK is due to begin on the £5m transformation of St Helens College's Technology Campus.
College bosses say the redevelopment at Pocket Nook will see the creation of high quality learning spaces, a new library and the remodelling of existing workshops and classrooms.
It will be used by students on courses such as engineering, construction and animal care.
The upgrade follows the £58 million redevelopment of the college’s town centre campus.
The new campus will also include a new dining area, reception and internal courtyards.
Work is due to be complete by September 2015, with the college insisting there will be minimal disruption to current students.
The college will invest £4.1m towards the estimated cost and the remaining £900,000 will come from Skills Funding Agency.
Principal, Dr Jette Burford, said: “This project comes at a very exciting time for the college.
"As we strive for excellence, this renovation at the Technology Centre site means all of our facilities will now boast state of the art equipment and learning resources.
"The main aim is to create modern, practical study spaces which will inspire and motivate students."
