COMPETITORS who enjoy a real challenge are being invited to chase the sun.

A dawn to dusk biking, hiking and canoeing adventure in the Lake District has been organised by the NSPCC to raise funds to help young people.

Starting at the crack of dawn the Chasing the Sun challenge will include a 25 mile off-road mountain biking trail around Derwentwater, a six mile trek up and down Haystacks and a 3 mile paddle on the lake, all to be completed by sunset.

Janette Drew, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: "This is an exciting event in some of the most stunning surroundings in the UK. It offers a chance to participate in a variety of activities which I hope will appeal to a range of people.

“Anyone who fancies a challenge with a difference should sign so we can continue to raise vital funds for our local services which offer a lifeline to children and young people in St Helens.”

The event is designed for teams of two, but individual registrations are also being accepted. Registration fee is £39 per person and competitors each need to raise £300 minimum sponsorship.
