POLICE are urging anyone who has had power tools stolen from a van in the Rivington Road area to come forward and claim them.

Patrols seized the tools from two men who they stopped in Knowsley Road in the early hours last Friday (February 14).

They were arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

A van on a housing estate off Rivington Road was found to have been left open.

Detective Constable Jeff Huxley at St Helens CID, said: "The van that we believe these men searched through had been left unlocked so there will have been no sign of forced entry.

"The owner of the tools we have recovered may well not have realised their van had been broken into or even that some tools are missing.

"If you have a van like this and live in this particular area, please contact me if you now think you are the victim in this theft case."
