AN investigation has been launched after a witness reported seeing a woman punched in the face in an early morning assault.

The incident is believed to have happened on Ashurst Drive in Blackbrook at 8.25am on Tuesday (February 11). A man was apparently seen launching the attack.

A police spokesman said the offender is described as tall, thin and believed to have spoken with a Liverpool accent.

It is the third incident in as many weeks in the area after a 43-year-old woman was attacked in an alleyway on Ashurst Drive and a man was charged with robbery Sam’s Wines on Blackbrook Road.

The incidents are not believed to be connected.
