A 71-YEAR-old lorry driver suffered suspected whiplash earlier today (Tuesday, February 11) following a traffic collision with a car in Bold.

Firefighters were called to Travers Entry at around 11 am.

A 65-year-old man who was in the Nissan Almeira car was taken to Aintree University Hospital. Police have described his condition as "serious".

Officers from the Matrix Serious and Organised Crime (MSOC) Roads Policing Investigation team attended the scene and the driver of the lorry is assisting them with their enquiries.

Fire engines from St Helens and Newton attended along with the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Team and were there for around 35 minutes.
