AN evening of style saw more than 300 people flock to a ‘prom show’ which saw models and Saints juniors on Langtree Park’s catwalk.

Models – including Miss St Helens Star 2013 winner Hannah Peters – showcased glamorous gowns, while a clutch of the rugby league’s clubs youngsters scrubbed up in black tie.

The show was hosted by EB Couture of Prescot in conjunction with the St Helens Star and supported by Langtree Park Stadium.

Prom nights, which celebrate secondary school pupils ‘graduation’, have become increasingly popular in the past decade, after catching on from the USA.

They can prove important for businesses – from dress shops to salons – as youngsters seek to look their best for the big occasion.

More than 100 dresses were modelled on stage by 12 models, who included former Cowley pupil Bethany Cammack and GB karate ace Nicole Donoghue, a St Helens College student.

Plenty of boys also want to look the part for the proms, and the lads from Saints academy ranks were not outshone as they modelled formal attire from Greenwoods of St Helens.

Chloe Stout of Rainford was the lucky winner of the evening’s draw and she will choose the dress of her dreams courtesy of EB Couture.

Star events manager Zoe Donoghue said: “The evening was fantastic. I never imagined we would have so many visitors to the show.

“Pam of EB Couture and her team and Kerry of Greenwoods worked so hard pulling the whole show together.

“It was hectic back stage, but the models pulled off a fantastic performance and did us all proud’.”
