FREE boiler and heating repairs are being offered to vulnerable people who live in Prescot and Whiston.

Knowsley Council’s Public Health department has allocated funds for such work as part of their campaign to help residents stay warm and healthy.

To be eligible residents must own their home, be aged 60 plus or the parent/guardian of a child under five, and in receipt of eligible benefits.

Already the scheme has provided new boilers for a number of elderly residents with more to be installed.

Council advice to help keep residents warm and healthy includes wearing lots of thin layers of clothing, drink hot liquids, move around at least once an hour and set heating to 21degrees C in the living room and ensure you are up-to-date with ‘flu’ jabs.

Knowsley’s Director of Public Health Matthew Ashton said: “I urge residents who are eligible for the free heating and boiler repairs to get in touch.

“We want to ensure our households have modern, energy-efficient boilers and central heating systems to keep them warm and healthy, as well as reducing their heating bills.”
