Saints and Hull FC unveil Steve Prescott Cup
Updated 11:56am Wednesday 5th February 2014 in News
SAINTS’ opening game of the season at Langtree Park against Hull FC promises to be an emotional night after it was revealed the sides will unite in tribute to their ex-player Steve Prescott.
The inspirational cancer battler – who starred in both the red-vee and black and white hoops during his playing days – passed away in November aged 39.
The Friday, February 21 fixture between the two clubs – a game Steve held most dear – will see the inaugural Steve Prescott Cup being played.
The cup will become an annual event, with the team with the highest aggregate score from their two regular season league meetings being awarded with the trophy.
The night will also see tributes to Steve and a past player guard of honour take the field for his two sons Taylor and Koby, who will be mascots for the game.
Steve’s brother Neil will also bring the match ball out on to the Langtree Park pitch ahead of the game.
Earlier, there will be an unveiling ceremony at the Saints way bridge which will be renamed in Steve’s honour, from 5.30pm.
Further details will be released over the next fortnight
