RESIDENTS are being warned after a spate of wheelie bin thefts this afternoon.

St Helens Council said several went missing in the Newton-le-Willows today quite shorltly after they were emptied.

Police have been alerted.

A council spokeswoman said: "Please take extra care on your collection day and if anyone sees anything suspicious report it in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
