A MAN has been charged with robbery after a woman shop worker was allegedly threatened with a knife at a convenience store.

Police were called to Sam’s Wines on Blackbrook Road, shortly after 12.10pm on Saturday, February 1.

It is alleged a man stole a “small amount” of cash from a till before fleeing. No one was hurt but the 51-year-old shop worker was left shaken.

Police later arrested and charged Andrew Grundy with robbery.

Grundy, aged 44, of Frodsham Drive, Blackbrook, was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at St Helens Magistrates’ Court on, February 3 2014.

He will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on February 17 2014.
