THE magic of Peter Pan sent box office sales soaring at St Helens Theatre Royal to ensure record numbers of panto lovers flocked through the venue’s doors.

The Christmas spectacular saw former Strictly Come Dancing star Brian Fortuna take the lead role as the boy who never grows up.

It proved such a success that more than 30,000 children and adults enjoyed the festive show.

It ran for 53 performances from December 6 to January 12.

Theatre manager Chantelle Nolan explained: “We always pride ourselves on delivering the best seasonal shows and our Christmas pantomimes have become the area’s must see event of the year.

“Peter Pan did extraordinarily well and was the top selling panto we’ve ever presented. I think we’ll have our work cut out trying to top this one, but we’re definitely up for the challenge.

“We’ve got a few tricks up our sleeve, which we think will make our 2014 show an even bigger success.”

Plans are already in place for Easter with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, from Friday, April 11, to Monday, April 21. Call the box office on 01744 756 000.
