MOVES to ban anyone smoking in a vehicle in which children are passengers is ‘pointless’ claims North West Euro MP Paul Nuttall.
The UKIP deputy leader’s reaction to news that legislation could soon be brought in said: “I really don’t think it’s as big a problem as politicians from the old parties are trying to make out.
“The vast majority of parents would not dream of lighting a cigarette if their children were in the car.
“The trouble is wondering what they will decide to outlaw next.
“Will the bored politicians, keen to look like they are doing something, ban smoking in a home containing children? “This could see young children being left unattended, while the parent is outside.
“This is a meaningless policy, it’s a smokescreen designed to make it look like the MPs and Lords are doing something.”
