CANCER patients are being invited to attend a meeting to discuss the proposed new Clatterbridge Cancer Hospital.

Julie Curren, engagement officer for the NHS’s Cheshire and Merseyside commissioning support unit, will deliver a talk about plans to build a centre next to the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the University of Liverpool.

St Helens Cancer Support Group will meet this Saturday, February 1 between 10am and noon at their offices at 93 Corporation Street.

The new centre will mean that for the first time Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer patients will have access to inpatient oncology, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, cancer surgery, critical care, outpatient services and research all on one site.

Denys Floyd, of the group, said: “These plans are important for cancer patients and their families in St Helens. We hope plenty of people will turn up.”
