Households can work together to save on energy bills
8:45am Monday 27th January 2014 in News
WITH household fuel bills soaring, residents are being invited to join a scheme to help save money.
The Switch Together, Save Together scheme, organised by charity Energy Projects plus with local authorities across Merseyside, aims to use collective buying power to negotiate cheaper tariffs.
The scheme follows an initiative in June which saw 4,600 residents across Merseyside take part in the collective.
It resulted in £76,435 being saved on energy bills and new offers from Scottish Power, Npower, The Co-operative Energy and Good Energy.
The scheme is open to any householders, regardless of their current supplier and is backed by the five Merseyside local authorities and Halton Council.
Councillor Richard McCauley said: “It’s free and easy to join, and there’s nothing to lose. I would encourage everyone to join in and see how much they could save.”
The registration period for the collective runs to March 10, and to join visit LCRenergyswitch.co.uk or call the Save Energy Advice Line on 0800 043 0151.
