TRAFFIC will be disrupted when a road closes for six weeks from next month, St Helens Council has confirmed.
The section of Winstanley Road, Garswood, will shut from Monday, February 3 while a culvert is replaced.
The replacement culvert, which carries Down Brook beneath Winstanley Road, will enable the weight limit along Winstanley Road to be increased from its current maximum loading of 7.5 tonnes.
A diversion route – taking motorists along Billinge Road, Newton Road and Wigan Road - will be signposted by the time work starts: Residents have been informed of the essential improvement work by letter.
St Helens Council added it apologises for any inconvenience.
