A COUPLE who allegedly attempted to leave a restaurant without paying for their meal were arrested by police
Police on Ormskirk Street in the town centre asked CCTV operators to look out for suspects and five cameras were used.
A man and a woman were later arrested for making off without payment.
Elsewhere security staff on the Ravenhead Retail Park asked for CCTV to monitor their area as they suspected two men were hiding items with a view to leaving without paying.
As they left the store one got into a vehicle but was followed by a security officer. When police arrived they recovered stolen items to the value of £860 from the car boot. Two men were later arrested.
Two cameras were used to investigate following theft of a large amount of goods from Marks and Spencer.
Security staff used the Shopwatch radio system to alert CCTV staff. Security staff detained one suspect while the other fled in a car.
Goods worth £799 were recovered from the woman who was subsequently arrested for theft.
