ST HELENS will have the X Factor this May as the Theatre Royal welcomes Joe McElderry to the town.

On Saturday, May 24 the former X Factor winner will bring his unmissable Set Your Soul Alive Tour to the Theatre Royal.

Following his rise to fame after winning the 2009 X Factor, McElderry’s first single The Climb went to number one in the UK and Irish singles chart.

His debut release Wide Awake shot into the Top 10 in the UK, Scottish and Irish album charts and since then, the English singer has become the first X Factor winner to release four albums.

Stretching his musical parameters he has experimented with multiple genres from rock and pop to classical and R&B.

Taking his albums around the country, McElderry has performed at some of the biggest venues in the UK and in 2011 he won ITV’s Popstar to Operastar competition.

Two classically-influenced albums later and the singing-sensation is already working on yet another album as he completes his 50-stop tour of the UK.

The Set Your Soul Alive Tour will see McElderry along with a live band performing a mixture of tracks from the singer’s multi-genre back catalogue.

Promising a night of pop, rock and classical fun, the X Factor winner’s show is shaping up to be one that is not to be missed.

Joe McElderry comes to the Theatre Royal on Saturday, May 24.
