TWO men were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after reports a car had been damaged near a supermarket.
Three men were initially spotted by staff at Asda damaging a motor vehicle.
Police were called as cameras tracked the men on to Westfield Street and on to Ormskirk Street where they were seen kicking shutters on shops.
Two men were arrested but a third has not been found.
Meanwhile CCTV staff were alerted to reports of a suspect breaking into a vehicle on Jackson Street.
As police arrived at the scene a man was seen jumping into a transit van before speeding off.
He was followed by officers and monitored by CCTV as he drove through Newton-le-Willows and along the M6 motorway to Urmston, where he abandoned the van.
A police helicopter was scrambled and a suspect was discovered in a nearby garden. A man from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of numerous offences.
