COLOURFUL fundraisers decided to do something different when it came to digging deep to beat breast cancer.

Sutton mum Donna Atkinson had her own ideas when she and a group of friends discussed raising money for charity.

Organiser Donna said: “They suggested doing a sponsored walk but I thought we’d better do something out of the ordinary and said we ought to have a sponsored tattoo session. They thought it was a crazy but great idea! “Thanks to tattooist Kel Dingsdale at the Fishbone Studio in New Cross Street and all those sponsors plus the other 14 volunteers, we raised £740.”

The 47 year-old mother of three, is a busy bee working as a cleaner at Sutton Oak Priimary and also Sutton Academy plus she works as a supervisor at Robins Lane School.

An old hand at the skin art game London-born Donna had her first tattoo 15 years ago and the sponsored session took her tally to 20.

“Sharon Bott, Susan Hulse, Barbara Young, Paula Vass and Bev Murphy were having their first tattoos. The others were my daughter Kerrie Andrews, Pam Lowe, Amanda Dove, Carole Vater, Rachel Buckanan, Anne White, Linda Montgomery and Linda Woods plus my partner of 20 years Kenny Littler. I’d like to thank them all,” said Donna.
