THE tenth member of a crime gang that swamped the streets of St Helens with drugs has been jailed for 19 and a half years.

Alan Doolan, from Gray Street in Bootle, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, conspiracy to commit arson, conspiracy to possess firearms with intent to endanger life and grievous bodily harm with intent.

The 23-year-old was part of a gang headed by Eugene Price which netted approximately a million pounds in 12 months.

In tandem with the drug dealing they were engaged in an increasingly violent turf war It included incidents when gunshots were fired at a house on Derbyshire Hill Road and at a caravan on Leonard Street in Sutton which left a five-year-old boy showered in glass.

They also plotted a number of arson attacks in Parr, Windle and Widnes.

In total the gang which ran the operation from Newton Road in Parr were jailed for more than 100 years.

Following their arrest the level of crime in St Helens was said to have decreased dramatically.
