AN annual Christmas toy appeal for underprivileged children has proved a resounding success, with more gifts donated than ever before.

Following an appeal from St Helens Council Hattons Solicitors, Cafe bocboc and Smyths Toys dipped into their own pockets and then joined forces to ask people in the town for gifts and they didn’t disappoint.

Bruce Hatton senior partner at Hattons Solicitors said: “I am overwhelmed by the generosity that local people have shown this year donating hundreds of gifts.

“In tough economic times it’s sometimes easy to forget those less fortunate and its heart warming to see so many people actively getting involved helping to put a smile on children’s faces.

Clare Hockenhull from Cafe bocboc added: “We felt that helping underprivileged children in St Helens was a great idea and didn’t hesitate to get involved for a great cause. We would also like to thank all those people for donating a toy at the cafe.”
