STORM lanterns shone brightly when the Bethlehem Peace Light arrived in Sutton.
On December 17 the light was welcomed at St Anne and Blessed Dominic’s Catholic Church where ministers and worshippers from other Sutton churches gathered for a service featuring a peace choir created by pupils from St Anne’s, Willow Tree, Sutton Oak, Robins Lane, Eaves and Sherdley primary schools.
The schools were represented at the service by ‘Peace children’, chosen for their behaviour and community spirit who helped Scouts distribute the Light into the homes of the lonely, elderly and sick.
The following day a Peace Light community event was held at Sutton Village Church.
Now the aim is to keep the Light burning throughout the Christmas period until Twelfth Night on January 6.
