RACEGOERS at Haydock Park on Saturday are being asked to don their best 'Christmas jumper' to be in with a chance of winning a competition.

Haydock Park stages two jump racing fixtures before the bells ring in the New Year.

The One Stop Energy Tommy Whittle Chase day on the Saturday, December 21 takes place before Christmas and Winter Wonderland Family Fun Day on Monday, December 30.

The focus on Saturday is very much on the quality of the sport, with the principal race being the £32,500 One Stop Energy Tommy Whittle Chase run over three miles. There is also a brass band to entertain the crowds.

The spectator wearing the best Christmas jumper on the 21st – to be judged in the parade ring at 12.55pm after the second race – will win a table for two people in the racecourse restaurant on Peter Marsh Chase day on Saturday, January 18.

The meeting on December 30 features  free entertainment for children, ranging from a snow globe, funfair rides, face painters and winter wonderland fun.

The races include The Last Fling Steeple Chase which is sponsored by Classic Lodges Limited, run over three and a half miles and commemorates one of the most popular horses to race at Haydock Park.

Advance purchase of tickets saves ten per cent on on-the-day prices. Restaurant bookings, with a Christmas menu on the 30th, are from £57 per person.

Accompanied under 17s are admitted free of charge to Haydock Park.
