VILLAGERS in Rainford should have no problem wondering what to buy relatives or friends for a Christmas stocking filler.

A 26 track CD recorded in the village and featuring exclusively Rainford artists the 'Sounds like a Rainford Christmas' will boost Willowbrook Hospice funds. The charity will receive half of the proceeds from sales of the recording and the other half will be shared by the organisations who have contributed to CD.

Hospice volunteer Tony Foster organised the recording sessions during summer with children from the three primary schools in Rainford featuring alongside choirs, the village's chamopionship brass band, bell ringers and solo instrumentalists.

The youngest artists are the three and four year old pre-school ‘Tadpoles’ from Brook Lodge Community Primary School.

Tony said: “Whatever the Tadpoles might lack in musical finesse, they more than make up for in sheer exuberance and enthusiasm. Encouraged and coaxed along by teaching staff, they deliver a real show-stopping performance.”

Copies of the disc, packed with Christmas music and priced at £5, can be bought in Rainford at the Post Office, Brewer’s Garage, Rainford Deli, Village Farm Shop, Houghton’s Newsagents and Willowbrook Hospice Shop.
