Runners of all ages brought early festive cheer to Sutton when they took part in the annual Santa Dash.

The Steve Prescott Foundation and Willowbrook Hospice teamed up to stage the event.

Dozens of families supported the dash, braving the rain and the cold in the name of charity.

Mark Pilkington, fundraiser for Willowbrook Hospice, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to all our Santas who took part on the day, Sutton Leisure Centre for letting us use their facilities, the St Helens Youth Brass Band who performed for our Santas and St John Ambulance.

Before the dash started there was a presentation where Ian Roughley handed over a cheque for £650 to the hospice.

Ian, along with St Helens Youth Brass Band, staged an event at the Haydock Conservative Club in memory of Ian’s daughter, Louise, to raise the funds.

Following the event, the hospice also received a cheque for £1,000 from Haydock Reading Rooms for an event they held, while £1,200 was raised from a soul night held at the Nalgo Sports and Social Club.
