A MAN was injured in Knowsley when he was hit by a falling tree, measuring about 60feet, during yesterday's high winds.
Firefighters were called to Old Meadow at around 11am after the large tree fell across two cars and against a house.
The injured man was taken to Aintree Hospital by ambulance.
Watch Manager Peter Thompson said: "This was a large tree that had fallen through the fence of a property, landing on a car, a van and on to the roof of a house.
"A man was hit in the back and the shoulder. We requested an ambulance to assist him."
Firefighters were also called out after a large branch went through a porch roof of a property on Tithebarn Road.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was also called at just after 8am after the branch fell from a tree.
Crews used chainsaws to safely remove the branch and make it safe.
