Longton Lane Community Primary School in the top tier nationally so far as ICT teaching and learning is concerned.
Having received two ICT Marks in the last five years, the school has now moved up a gear and recruited 30 pupils to help classmates and staff get to grips with new state-of-the-art equipment and systems.
The kit was purchased as part of a successful bid to the Agilisys Innovation Fund, which is also helping other St Helens schools with their ICT studies.
Head teacher Kathy Maggs said: “We’ve now applied for higher level award – the Third Millennium Award – which the digital leaders are a big part of.
“They will keep up to date with new apps and offer guidance on their use in the classroom. They also run a weekly ICT club in the school and help out in the classroom.”
Future plans could also see the digital leaders using blogging and networking facilities to hold meetings with counterparts from other schools.
