EIGHTY seven per cent of Merseyside firms use the internet on a daily basis for their business and over half believe they have made savings through digital strategy.

Those survey results follow a business breakfast hosted by Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking at Haydock Park Racecourse.

Over 100 local business leaders from across the area were brought together to receive expert guidance on strengthening their digital capabilities and improving their online presence.

The survey revealed 67 per cent felt that use of the internet in their business provided an easier way of taking payments and orders, and 60 per cent said the internet provides an effective way to market products and services.

The Merseyside event was one of a series of business breakfasts taking place across the country and is part of Lloyds Bank’s commitment to providing UK SMEs with expert guidance and support.

The events are also the latest phase of Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking’s continued involvement with Go ON UK - an initiative which aims to help make the UK become the most digitally capable nation.

Gori Yahaya, head of the Juice Bar programme at Google, said: “When businesses are armed with digital skills and the knowledge of how to use the internet, they grow faster than those who aren't using online tools to boost their enterprises."

Leigh Taylor, regional director at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “Merseyside has a strong and vibrant business community, and many firms continue to be strengthened by clear and effective online strategies.”
