Judge Robert Warnock at Liverpool Crown Court commends courage of sex predator victim

JAILING a sex offender for more than five years for the attempted kidnapping of a young woman in broad daylight, a judge labelled him a “predatory offender”.
Sentencing Mark Trim at Liverpool Crown Court, judge Robert Warnock told him: “Your motive was to gratify your own warped sexual appetite.
“You present a serious risk of significant injury.
“You are a predatory offender from whom the public are entitled to be protected.”
Trim, who was high on cocaine attempted to snatch the woman from Devon Street in May.
It was only her brave actions in fighting him off that prevented her from being kidnapped.
Court heard that Trim, who has a three-year-old son, is prone to stress and has contemplated suicide.
He has one previous conviction for indecent exposure dating back to March 2011, when he jumped out of a bush wearing nothing except a pair of trainers.
He tried to grab a 19-year-old woman, who believed he was going to drag her into an alleyway, but ran off when a passer-by came along.
Trim was given a Community Order and handed a five year Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
Eric Lamb said Trim had resorted to cocaine after the breakdown of his marriage following this conviction.
The judge contrasted Trim’s “cowardly attack” with the courage of the victim, who memorised part of his car’s registration.
“The public have cause to be grateful to her,” he said.
Addressing Trim directly he said: “Your victim was a complete stranger.
“Having stalked her you attacked her causing physical injury in what must have been a terrifying ordeal.
“The degree of trauma and upset left her unable to speak.”
