A GROUP that supports families with disabled children has been given a £1,735 grant by The Co-operative Group.
Play4Disabled was allocated the money out of the Co-operative Membership Fund by the Merseyside membership committee.
The group currently helps around 300 families across St Helens with disabled children, ranging from newborns to 19-year-olds.
Play4Disabled chairman Melanie Battye said: “Funding is becoming even harder to secure; therefore, we were delighted to hear that we were successful in securing this grant from the Co-operative.
“The cash has made a huge difference to our group.
“We have various events planned for this year and next.
“We have already held a ‘Build a Pizza’ workshop and we have a trip to Underwater Street in Liverpool planned.”
The group also has various activities for the children in the pipeline, including a visit to the Royal Philharmonic Theatre and ‘Science Boffins’ sessions.
