St Helens town centre hosts British Street Food Festival
10:59am Thursday 10th October 2013 in News
OSTRICH burgers will be on the menu as the town’s first British Street Food Festival gets underway.
The celebration of local and national foods features a host of regional food suppliers organised by Haydock Street based Scoff Outside Catering. The food festival will be held in the town centre today, Friday and Saturday.
Homegrown treats on the menu include gourmet sausages, a range of speciality coffees and the regionally sourced ostrich burgers.
College students too will be able to enjoy a discount day today with concessions on production of their student ID.
Friday is discount day for staff of St Helens retailers who produce their staff badge.
Scoff events manager Diane Smith said: “This is the first time we have worked with the council on a British food event. We had the continental market in town last week and we’re hoping this will take off and become a regular event.
“There will be seven vendors offering quality products from speciality sausages to long twisted Spanish doughnuts and a mini pizza van with a wood-fired oven. We aim to tease the taste buds.”
Scoff has been in the catering business for 30 years and has six full time employees.
The firm caters at nationwide events including Nova series events such as the Great North Run and Swim marathons and the recent Ride With Brad cycle event.
