POLICE teams in forensic suits were continuing to comb a house at the centre of a major drugs investigation today.
A large amount of chemicals - believed to be used for the manufacture of drugs - were found during a raid at the terraced property at Sutton Road on Wednesday night.
People living nearby were initially advised to keep their windows and doors closed while Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service determined if there was any risk to the public.
But today they relaxed that warning after ruling the chemicals did not present a threat.
Nevertheless, officers could be seen wearing the white body suits as they continued searches of the scene.
The force has not disclosed the nature of the chemicals.
Officers arrested a 61-year-old man and 39-year-old woman following the raid, which took place at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 2, on suspicion of being involved in the manufacture of drugs.
They have not said what class of drugs they are suspected of making.
Gaskell Street and Baxters Lane was closed yesterday - but have since reopened.
