Woman needed plastic surgery after glassing attack at Barr 44, St Helens
A YOUNG woman had to undergo plastic surgery after being glassed in the face at a town centre bar, it has emerged.
Detectives today belatedly released details of the crime – five weeks on since the 24-year-old was struck while sitting in a booth of Barr 44 on Westfield Street.
The attacker was another woman.
Detective Constable Ellie Devers said: “This young woman was enjoying a night out in St Helens before the unprovoked and violent assault.
“As a result of the attack, the victim has had to undergo plastic surgery to her face.
The assault happened at about 1.30am on Thursday, August 22. The victim was attacked while sitting with a friend at the front of the bar. She was taken to Whiston Hospital for treatment to a serious facial injury.
CCTV has been examined and detectives have released these images as part of their inquiry.
DC Devers added: “I am particularly interested in speaking to the young woman pictured as I believe she may have information that could assist our enquiries.
“We take incidents of this nature very seriously and we are appealing to anyone with any information about this incident to call us to assist the investigation.”
