St Aidan's pupils help to bring colour to Billinge meadow
12:00pm Saturday 28th September 2013 in News
SCHOOL pupils teamed up with park rangers to add colour and wildlife to a village park.
Youngsters and staff from St Aidan’s Primary School helped sow wildflower seeds at a meadow in Bankes Park, Billinge, which is designed to brighten up the park and provide a valuable habitat for insects and other animals.
St Helens Council cited figures suggesting that since the 1940s the UK has lost 97 per cent of its wildflower meadows.
Children helped council staff sow corn chamomile, cornflower, corn poppy, corn marigold, meadow buttercup and viper’s bugloss.
