Traffic chaos on region's major roads after man dies on M62
9:26am Wednesday 25th September 2013 in News
DRIVERS were facing traffic chaos this morning following the death of a man on the M62 in the early hours.
Police say a man, aged 30, from the Warrington area, fell from a bridge and collided with a lorry around 2.45am. His next of kin have been informed.
The road was closed eastbound since 3am between the junction with the M6 at Croft and Birchwood.
It has also led to traffic building on other major routes, including the East Lancashire Road and the M6.
The M62 is being reopened for motorists heading to Manchester at Croft after a death on the road earlier this morning.
Police say Highways Agency officials are now opening lanes two and three after clearing the carriageway.
Traffic can join and travel both ways at Birchwood at junction 11.
The westbound carriageway is open but police say it is 'very busy'.
Diversions are in place but the closure is expected to hit journey times across Warrington today, Wednesday.
Congestion on the M62 is back to Burtonwood, junction eight.
