Fire crews rescue 12-year-old girl from tree in Thatto Heath
8:54am Monday 23rd September 2013 in News
FIREFIGHTERS were called to help a 12-year-old girl after she became stuck in a tree.
It is thought the girl had climbed the tree but then could not find a way down.
Crews were called at 6.51pm on Saunday, September 22, to Thatto Heath Park near St John Street, Thatto Heath.
Firefighters used a nine-metre ladder and rope access gear to bring the girl to safety.
Watch Manager Peter Boland, from Eccleston Community Fire Station, said: “The girl was around five metres off the ground stuck in branches of a tree.
"Whilst we understand young people like to have adventures they must understand there are risks involved in some of the things they do.
"We advise people not to climb anything where they may become stuck and require the help and assistance of the emergency services.”
