Celebrate confidence with Miss St Helens Star
THE sponsor of this year’s Miss St Helens Star modelling contest is calling on entrants to help “celebrate the confidence of women in our town”.
Karen Maloney, who will also be a judge, is backing the re-launched competition through her beauty firm Renaissance Salon.
The event – part of the Star’s 40th Birthday celebrations – offers the chance to win a contract with Angels Elite modelling agency and a professional photo shoot.
After watching the original competition more than 20 years ago, it was the feeling of nostalgia that drew Renaissance Salon owner Karen to support this year’s celebration.
Karen, who has salons at College Street, St Helens and in Prescot, said: “I remember the buzz around the competition all those years ago and I want the re-launch to be just as spectacular.
“At Renaissance we see amazing women coming in each and every day and this competition is a great chance to celebrate the confidence women in the town have.”
Once entries have been received, a public vote will lead to a shortlist of semi-finalists before the Miss St Helens Star judges assess appearance and personality to select the finalists.
Karen added: “We have brilliant women of all shapes and sizes in the town and I’d love to see a variety of entrants into the competition.
“I don’t want people to think it is simply a beauty pageant because it is so much more.
“The competition is a great way to celebrate the self-esteem of women who know who they are and embrace it.”
THE finals take place on Friday, November 8 at the Function Room, North Road. During that week, finalists will visit Renaissance for some complimentary treatments to ensure they look and feel their best before the big night.
