A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded in custody after being accused of snatching an iPhone from a teenage boy in St Helens town centre.

Andrew Kirby, of Brynn Street, was charged with robbery following an appeal in the Star a fortnight ago.

It is alleged the 16-year-old victim, from Rainford, was targeted as he was walking with his girlfriend along Water Street.

The alleged robbery happened shortly after 4pm on August 10.

Kirby, who was arrested on Wednesday, September 4, appeared before St Helens Magistrates’ Court the following day charged with robbery.

He is due to appear before Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, September 19 to enter a plea.
