A MAN has been fined almost £600 after giving false information to the authorities after he was caught failing to clean up after his dog.
Terry Hazeldine, from Fleet Lane in Parr, was spotted by a dog warden on Cansfield Street in the town centre.
He initially gave inaccurate details to the warden, but following an investigation, was traced to his current address and issued with an £80 fixed penalty notice.
However Hazeldine failed to pay the fine within 14 days and was fined £175. He was also fined a similar amount for providing false information, plus half of the £228 costs claimed by the council plus a £20 victim surcharge.
A collection order was made in case he defaults on the payment. .
