Missing toddler sparks police alert in Taylor Park
9:30am Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
POLICE were called to a park after a three-year-old girl went missing on Bank Holiday Monday.
The toddler had been spending time in the park with relatives when she wandered off from her mother near the boathouse at about 2pm.
After ten minutes of searching – which involved the family and park visitors – the worried mother dialled 999 amid fears for her daughter’s safety.
It led to officers and sniffer dogs being called to the park – but the tot was found within minutes in a wooded area of the park.
A police spokesman said: “The mother was very worried. Her daughter had been missing for ten minutes and they had been searching for her with members of the public – so phining the police was the right thing to do.
“Thankfully, she was found just as the dog patrols were arriving.”
