Rainhill man on firearms charges after ammo discovered in hand luggage at Liverpool's John Lennon Airport

A MAN from Rainhill has been charged with a firearms offence after ammunition was seized from hand luggage at Liverpool's John Lennon Airport.
According to reports, the discovery on August 22 led to a series of searches across the North West by counter terrorism officers, during which a pistol was found.
A man in his 60s has been charged with possession of a firearm contrary to Section 5 of the Firearms Act 1968.
The counter terrorism unit moved to reassure people that there was “no threat to anyone in the area or the surrounding communities”.
