Three month curfew for benefit cheat

A BENEFIT cheat who failed to declare her partner was living with her has been handed a three month curfew.
Christine Tobin, 58, of Gaskell Street, Parr pleaded guilty to failing to declare her true circumstances to St Helens Council and the Department for Works and Pensions.
She had been fraudulently claiming income support, housing and council tax benefit.
It resulted in an overpayment of benefit totalling £11,443.49 Appearing at St Helens Magistrates’ Court, she was sentenced to a community order, which includes the 9pm and 7am curfew.
She is also required to repay the full overpayment.
