Apprenticeship Hub Bus to visit St Helens College
10:44am Wednesday 21st August 2013 in News
STUDENTS who will have collected exam results are being invited to take a tour of a special bus that will be offering careers advice and advertising apprenticeship vacancies.
The Apprenticeship Hub Bus will roll into St Helens College’s town centre campus on Tuesday, August 27.
It is touring towns and cities under a partnership between the National Apprenticeship Service and the Liverpool City Region’s Apprenticeship Hub.
In St Helens more than 1,400 people aged between 18 and 24 are claiming out of work benefits and the jobs market for young people is fiercely competitive.
Advisors will be available on the bus to offer guidance and to help young people apply for ‘live’ apprenticeship job vacancies.
It will also provide employers with information if they are thinking of offering an apprenticeship for the first time.
Sue Price, divisional director for the National Apprenticeship Service in the north, said: "The concept behind the bus is simply to enable young people across Merseyside, to drop by and receive information and advice on Apprenticeships so that they can make a more informed decision about their future.
“We also have lots of live Apprenticeship job vacancies available locally so we can start to register and match-up youngsters with local employers – direct from the bus”
The Apprenticeships Bus will be open from 10am to 4pm.
For those people seeking an Apprenticeship vacancy (AV) - or for employers wanting to advertise one - visit apprenticeships.org.uk or call 08000 150 600.
