1:34pm Friday 16th August 2013 in News
STUDENTS at St Helens College will be able to go on work experience and paid placements in behind-the-scenes roles at Langtree Park after a partnership was struck with Saints.
From September, students embarking on vocational courses – such as catering and hospitality - could work in match day hospitality and catering outlets.
Media and photography students, meanwhile, will be able to gain experience in video production, editing work, journalism and match day reporting.
Jette Burford, principal of the college, said the move “will really enhance the learning of students” and provide “real, valuable work experience.”
Mike Rush, the Saints chief executive, added: “This partnership can help students at the college expand their knowledge and skills in a real life setting as well as enhancing their CVs which could lead to new opportunities for them in the future.
“We are also keen to see our own players benefit from a supportive learning environment at St Helens College as we help equip them with qualifications for their futures.”
During enrolment for 16 to19 year olds opens, new students can drop in to find out more about St Helens College, meet tutors and careers advisors and sign up for courses.
Saints players will also be on campus to welcome new students as they embark on their future.
Enrolment will be taking place:
- Thursday, August 22, 10am to 5pm
- Friday, August 23, 9am to 4pm
- Tuesday, August 27, 9am to 5pm
- Wednesday, August 28, 9am to 5pm
