St Helens art competition open for entries
THE World of Glass has announced the submission deadlines for this year’s St Helens Open Art competition.
Artists who want to enter the competition should take their artwork (with completed entry forms and £6 entry fee) to the World of Glass, Chalon Way East, on Wednesday 11 or Thursday 12 September between 3pm and 8pm.
Entry forms are available from The World of Glass, libraries, Rennies art shop in Bridge Street and the St Helens Star office in Hardshaw Street.
Alternatively, they can be downloaded from from www.sthelens.gov.uk/openart.
Artists of all levels, aged 16 and over - who live, work or study in St Helens – are being invited to take part. As part of the event, they will have their work showcased in the St Helens Open Art exhibition.
This visual art competition covers all mediums including ceramics, digital, drawing, glass, mixed media, painting, photography and sculpture.
Prizes range from £25 for a Highly Commended up to £500 for the overall winner.
They will be chosen by a panel of judges including award winning artist Rosie Morison; Rainford Trust Secretary and Godfrey Pilkington Gallery Steering Group Representative, Will Simm; and Hannah Longworth, Curator at The World of Glass.
Members of the public and this newspaper's readers will also be able to choose their favourite artwork and vote for the winner of a £100 St Helens Star People’s Choice Award.
A preview and prize-giving evening takes place on Thursday, September 19 (6-8pm), followed by an exhibition of entries open to the public between Friday, September 20 and Saturday, November 9.
