A CHOIR of shop workers made their debut performance with a rousing routine, featuring songs from hit musicals.
The Asda St Helens Choir wowed the audience at St Mark’s summer fayre with renditions of hits from Les Miserables and The Lion King before finishing with Something Inside So Strong.
Choir founder and store community life champion Donna Martin said: “The choir was created to give colleagues the opportunity to try a new interest and have fun.
“It’s been wonderful to see us grow in confidence and bond as a team, and we are creating a really good sound under the guidance of our musical director Paul Johnson.”
Their debut performance is part of a wider programme of events, which will culminate in Sing for St Helens on October 2 at St Thomas’ Church.
Its aim is to celebrate the community, and will include performances from Kings’ Community Choir, Red Vee Singers and Liverpool Signing Choir.
Funds raised will be divided between Willowbrook Hospice, HoneyRose Foundation, ABF The Soldiers Charity and Tickled Pink for Breast Cancer Charities.
