PEOPLE power brought it back after 13 years – and Newton Town Show made up for lost time by delivering a day to remember for thousands.
The Mesnes Park event featured a parachute display team, classic car show, model aircraft display, funfair, a miniature steam railway and samba band.
The show was the result of months of work by the Newton and Earlestown Community Group – formed last year with a mission to put the pride back into Newton-le-Willows.
Councillor Seve Gomez-Aspon, a St Helens Council’s cabinet member and deputy chairman of the Newton group, said: “The group worked tremendously hard to put the show together.
“But it paid off in style, with countless people coming up to me on the day to say how much they enjoyed it.”
The community group is now thinking ahead to Christmas and planning a seasonal event in Earlestown.
Other attractions included Punch and Judy, Morris Dancers, 50 craft stalls, Hawks R Us birds of prey, vintage and modern fire engines, vintage buses, the British Army, an arts and crafts competition, donkey rides, a climbing wall and husky dogs.
