DONALD Duck joined forces with Iron Man and Supergirl to help raise cash for an organisation which offers young people the chance to fulfil their ambitions.
The brainchild of Newton-le-Willows businessman Terry McGuire, Business for Youth aims to directly help youngsters within the community, with support from local businesses.
The fancy dress walk covered every street and road in Newton and took Terry and the walkers more than 13 hours.
The 52-year-old said the walkers helped create a “wonderful communal atmosphere” throughout the day.
He said: “I would guess that there was a rotation of more than 100 people, all enjoying good weather and the atmosphere.
“This was Newton-le-Willows people walking for a Newton-le-Willows cause. Business for Youth creating and funding for children’s recreational activities.
“I was extremely proud to be part of such a wonderful day and I would like to thank everyone that took part.
“I am very excited for next year’s walk already, which I feel will be much bigger.
“The walk raised donations totalling £4,160 and every penny will go towards funding activities for the children of Newton.
“Out of that total £416 was donated to Newton Boys and Girls Club and £416 to Newton Community Centre.”
