A FAIRFORD runner competing in next month’s London marathon will be seeing London from a whole new perspective.

William Capps from Cartbrook, who works for Transport for London, will be travelling along the familiar routes on foot.

The 39-year-old said he was looking forward to the change.

He said: "It will be a good challenge especially as at the end of the year I will turn 40.

"I work as an engine master who works on static systems on the Docklands Light Railway so I will know exactly how far I have got to go throughout the race.

"I am also running for a very worthy cause as I am raising money for Robocap."

The charity provides robotic assisted surgery for prostate cancer sufferers throughout Gloucestershire, South Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

The state-of-the-art keyhole surgery is less invasive and means patients have a quicker recovery with a reduced risk of complications.

William added so far he has raised £1200 for the charity and he hopes to raise even more He said: "There are going to be 50,000 other runners there at the stating line as well as myself.

Training is going really well and I have enjoyed running around the Cotswolds.

"Now I am in the final stages I just hope I will make it there uninjured."
